About
For him, a successful painting is one that has been discovered. And to discover, one must relinquish all control in favor of chance, error, and failure.
Each painting must be experienced as a new beginning. The act of painting takes precedence over the final result. What he seeks is surprise – a gap between his initial intention and the resulting outcome, between accidents and omissions. When he speaks of discovering the painting, it is not an abstract notion.
Over the course of his research, he has developed a process for transferring paint onto the canvas using stencils that act as stamps. After drying, the canvas is torn from its backing, and it is then that he discovers it, physically.
This completely haphazard approach gives rise to a series of accidents and omissions. It is like fragments unearthed from a ruined structure. The task, then, is to correct, rethink, create and undo the painting in a balancing act where line, solid, and void each have a role to play.
He was exhibited in solo in several galleries in Cannes, Turin, London, New York and Paris and participated to many group show in Cannes, Phoenis Arizona, New York, Miami, London, Turin, Copenhagen and Paris.
