About
Theresa Kraft studied at Free Art School Stuttgart (Freie Hochschule Stuttgart) in Painting, Fine Arts, Stone Sculpture, and Drawing and advanced training under Olga Schiefer.
Her work explores the inner life of the human being through a philosophical and existential lens. Her paintings are built in multiple layers using pigments, plaster, and egg tempera in muted, restrained color palettes.
Through deliberate acts of opening and disrupting the surface — scratching, breaking, and revealing layers — she investigates what lies beneath the visible. Her practice is characterized by quiet intensity, material sensitivity, and a contemplative approach to abstraction.
In her series “In the Layers” and “Under the Layers”, Theresa Kraft explores the layered nature of human experience — what is hidden, formed, concealed, and slowly revealed. Working with pigments, plaster, egg tempera, and natural materials, she builds surfaces that oscillate between solidity and permeability.
